event | A Fine Line Show
Jun 01, 2015 - Jun 30, 2015
Please join us this June for our "A Fine Line" Show. During this show, we are featuring the works of artists that do an exemplary job of incorporating fine lines, both simple and unassuming, and intricate and detailed, into their pieces.
Featured are artists SJ Shaffer, Jourdan Dern, LauRha Frankfort, and Eric Freyer.
SJ Shaffer's work offers a unique combination of acrylic paint and fine art colored pencil work. She's able to get fine lines and details into areas that acrylics typically wouldn't be able to offer. Shaffer, a multi-award winning artist, captures the essence of the SouthWest, using techniques she's used in illustration.
Another artist with immense attention to detail is Jourdan Dern, an artist that is able to achieve very fine detail in areas such as feathers in her hummingbirds and birds of prey. Creating her paintings on clayboard allows Jourdan to paint these details, while remaining soft and smooth in the finish.
LauRha Frankfort; painter, musician, singer, and Qi Gong instructor, is also a featured artist for the month of June. In the Qi Gong theory, specific colors and materials heal, according to Frankfort. She paints human form, mostly female, blending color along the body's energy lines that correspond to certain body parts. She uses mixed medias such as pastels and chalk to very carefully create pieces that are portrayed with very deliberately placed lines.
Wood artist Eric Freyer has a unique take on fine lines. Using careful inlay techniques, Freyer creates intricate and functioning furniture. Working with wood since the age of four, he has been able to understand the organic nature of wood, allowing him to craft it into breathtaking chairs, tables, and benches, among other forms.
We invite you to visit Goldenstein Gallery for our “A Fine Line” Show, and experience both the simplistic and intricate ideas of what a line is.
